LEADERSHIP REPORT
November 11, 2009
- VETERANS DAY
Today is National Veterans Day please thank a Vet for their service to the greatest country, the United States of America and remember those who gave all for our freedom. Remember, Monday, November 16th is when the UAW will honor Veterans Day, your qualifying days will be Friday, November 13th or your last scheduled work day and Tuesday, November 17th.
- ANGEL TREE
It’s that time of year again, when as a Local Union, we adopt families in need of assistance. The Salvation Army has sent us 20 families with their wishes and needs. The families have been placed on the Christmas trees in both GA and Body atriums. Once you have selected a family, contact the Union Hall at (260) 672-2209, for the complete information. All items must be dropped off no later than Saturday, December 19, 2009, at the Salvation Army 2901 N. Clinton or you may personally deliver the items to the family.
- HATS, COATS, GLOVES & BLANKETS
Please help us serve our Community with much needed winter clothing. We will be collecting new and gently used coats, blankets, hats, scarves and gloves. All these items will be donated to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and Claire’s House Women’s Shelter. Collection containers will be located in the GA and Body/Paint entrances beginning Tuesday, November 17th through Friday, December 18th. This is a great time to clean out your closets and help the less fortunate.
- TOYS FOR TOTS
Each year our Veterans Committee joins forces with the Marine Corps to collect toys to help make a child’s Christmas brighter. For your convenience, collection barrels for toys have been placed in GA and Body/Paint atriums. The Veterans Committee will also be conducting a gate collection on Friday, November 20th between shifts. All proceeds will be donated to the Toy for Tots project.
- ASSOCIATED CHURCHES
Santa and his Elves will walk through the plant asking for donations for Associated Churches and passing out candy canes. This year Santa will be in the plant on Wednesday, December 2nd, for 2nd shift and Thursday, December 3rd for 1st shift. Associated Churches also has a food pantry and non-perishable food items would also be appreciated. These items may be placed in the containers in GA and Body/Paint Atriums. Thank you for your tremendous support during the holiday season.
