A complete audit of the GM Health Care Program for Hourly Employees will be conducted. All hourly employees, retirees and surviving spouses with dependents enrolled in the Medical, Dental or Vision coverage will be required to participate in this audit.
GM has contracted with an outside entity, Budco to do this audit. Budco worked with GM in auditing all the salaried employees and their eligible dependents earlier in 2008. Now, all hourly employees, retirees and surviving spouses will be part of the same type of audit.
In the early fall of 2008, all UAW represented hourly employees were asked to drop ineligible dependents from their health care coverage. This was in a letter mailed to your address of record.
If you did not respond to that letter, they will now, be asking you to prove the eligibility of all those who are listed as your dependents under the GM Health Care Program for Hourly Employees. You will need to prove the eligibility of your spouse, children, etc. if you wish to keep them enrolled in the GM Health Care Program for Hourly Employees.
The Audit period will be from November 3rd, 2008 through February 13, 2009. You will be mailed, to your home or address of record, a complete outline for your specific family and what action is required by you to continue coverage in 2009.
We encourage all members to prepare for this audit by gathering the proper documents you will need to prove eligibility of your dependents.
Each person’s documents will be different, but may include your 2007 Federal Tax form, Birth certificates, Divorce decree/court order showing your responsibility.
A Qualified Medical Child Support Order (QMCSO), you are gathering these documents to prove, relationship, residency, and dependency. Make copies of these documents; never send the originals as they will not be returned to you.
